PREPARATIONS FOR PACK, DISTRICT, AND COUNCIL DERBIES:
To that end, it is time to begin the countdown to RACE DAY:
· Attached is the Official Working Draft of the 2010 OFFICIAL RACE RULES to be used for the 2010 Central Florida Council Centennial Pinewood Derby, to be held during Family Fest 2010 on May 1, 2009 at Brighthouse Stadium on the campus of UCF. It shall also be used for the Seminole Trails District Derby to maintain consistency, which will be held on March 20, 2009 at the LDS Family Center in Lake Mary ( Same facility for Roundtable meetings).
· During both of these massive events, we will be conducting what we hope to be a memorable event.
· These OFFICIAL RACE RULES are intended to be debated and approved by all who desire to participate in their approval.
· An online forum has been created for the purpose of voicing opinions about pertinent aspects of the OFFICIAL RACE RULES and the Event: http://2010derby.futureeagles.com
· There will be a rules planning sessions, to be conducted in Lake Mary Florida. For the benefit of those who cannot drive to Lake Mary to participate in the discussion of rules changes in person, there will be the option of attending the sessions via conference call and/or online interactive chatroom. These will be for the express purpose of clarifying the final version of the RULES. Nov 28, 2009 is the date of this conference, and it shall begin at 9am. Let me know your preferred dates that work within your schedules for you to be at the meetings in person OR at least on the phone during the conferences. I expect to complete the confirmation process by 11am.
· Upon completion of this process, the FINAL, approved version of the OFFICIAL RACE RULES will be distributed throughout the Council.
· It would be ideal for all Packs to have a Pinewood Derby Committee Chairman, even if you are not intending to conduct a PWD event. The reason for this would be to insure that all active Scouts have the ability to enter their cars in the District and Council Events without major modification of their cars.
· Once the OFFICIAL RACE RULES are distributed, logistics for the actual District and Council Events will begin in earnest. It would be especially helpful if EACH PACK present at the District Event designate at least one PWD event volunteer to participate in the execution of the actual Council Event.
· Primary Race Resources for this event will come from Pack 529, Lake Mary Florida. Each active Event Volunteer is invited to provide a list of additional available equipment they own that would be useful for insuring a quality event. Registration and Inspection areas will be especially taxed by the increased participation levels, which is expected to be at least one hundred cars. A list of needed items will be published.
· ALL FEEDBACK AND RESPONDING INQUIRIES SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO NPD621@AOL.COM
