The Leonard & Marjorie Williams Family Scout Reservation is the location for the Central Florida Council Summer’s Last Bash on August 20 – 22, 2010. This is open to all Venturing Crews and Ships. The fee for the weekend is $30 and includes Friday night crackerbarrel, Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner, and crackerbarrel, and Sunday breakfast. It also includes use of the facilities including the campsite, bathroom with hot showers, pool, and wonderful dining hall. Some camp sites still have tents, but most do not, so bring your own, just in case.
Sign in begins at 6:00 PM and runs through 8:00 PM Friday out by the front entrance (a table will be set up just past the Leonard & Marjorie Williams Family Scout Reservation entrance walkway), and then moves to the dining hall from 10:30 until 11:30 PM. If you will not be able to arrive Friday night, please contact Sondra McCulloch at fly7wolf@yahoo.com so that other accommodations may be arranged.
There will be a campfire at 9 PM in the council ring on Friday night. Following the campfire, there will be crackerbarrel and a movie in the dining hall at 10:30 PM.
On Saturday, flag will be at 7:00 AM and breakfast following at 7:15. The day’s events will begin at 9:00 AM and run until 11:45 AM. Lunch will be at 12:00 and afternoon activities will run from 1:00 until 4:00 PM. Dinner will be at 5:00 PM and evening pool party will occur at 7:30 PM until 12:00 (midnight).
This is a very relaxed weekend with the competitions being for fun and not for trophies. Some of the competitions include – walk the plank, swab the deck, hunt for long lost treasure, human battleship, sink another crews pirate ship, ships & sailors, capture the pirate flag, watermelon eating contest, and relay races. The times for each event will be available Friday upon check in and will also be posted.
Saturday night will be the costume contest and pool party following. The evening events will occur at the pool pavilion and will begin at 7:30 PM.
Sunday morning breakfast will be served in the dining hall. Following breakfast is check out time.
You may get more information and the registration forms from the Central Florida Venturing web site.
