The council camping committee has created a survey asking all of our Troops, Teams, and Crews to let us know their plans for Summer Camp or High Adventure bases. The goal is to get an idea of where units are headed this Summer and if they have not made a decision to help them if needed. We’ll have a Post Summer Camp survey to share your experience. We’ll put together a resource to share with our units to help units make choices for future Summer Camp adventures. Thanks for taking the time out of your Summer for our youth! Now that our district Nominating Committees are recruiting new members for next year and key leadership may be shifting to new roles in our districts, here’s a way to get those new District Committee members and members changing positions up to speed so that your District Committee runs effectively!
One of the new additions to the Central Florida Council Board Retreat this year was an opportunity for an open "Town Hall" question and answer session including Council Representatives of Membership, Physical Resources, Finance, Marketing, as well as former CFCBSA Council President, and current National BSA Commissioner, Tico Perez. The topics raised by the 175 Scout Leaders were wide and varied, ranging from recruitment and retention, to better communication between District, Council, National, and the Local Packs.

Seminole Springs District was honored with the designation of Quality Unit for 2009, and this recognition came during the 2010 CFCBSA Board Retreat last night, held at Camp LaNoChe. The Centennial Quality Awards program is designed to recognize units, districts, councils, areas, and regions for achieving excellence in providing a quality program to a growing youth population in America at all levels of the Boy Scouts of America. The Centennial Quality Award is named in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. The award began in 2007 and continues until 2010
. Each year that you qualify, you will qualify to receive recognition for that year. There was a red background in 2007, a white background in 2008, a blue background in 2009, and 2010 will have a red, white, and blue background.
Special note: If earned all four years, a special distinction will be available to recognize groups who qualify in 2010.
